CITY UNIVERSITY RESOURCES

The Office of the Registrar is the leading academic credentials processing and keeping office records for the university community. Students come here to register for classes, add or drop classes, withdraw from courses after the add/drop period, or obtain transcripts of duplicate copies of degrees earned. Important information about tuition refunds and the grading system used by CU is available.

Course Registration: Students must register for courses each semester by completing the course registration form, obtaining the approval of their academic advisor, clearing with the office of finance, and proceeding to the registrar’s office. If classes are full, another attempt at registering may be made during the add/drop period specified in the academic calendar. The Registrar’s Office is located at the K4-Campus.

Withdrawal From Course or Semester: Compelling circumstances may force a student to withdraw from a course in mid-semester with all its consequences. Such requests are processed through the Office of the Registrar. Abandoning a course after registration will result in a permanent grade of “F” on the student’s transcript. Also, see the tuition refund policy below.

Course Add & Drop Processing: As students register for classes each Semester, some changes take place during the first two weeks. Students get an opportunity to join classes that were initially full or switch between courses. The office of the registrar manages this process with the approval of each student’s advisor.

Finding Transcripts & Duplicate Degrees: Current and former students and Alumni may obtain an official transcript of their studies at City University from the office of the Registrar. Duplicate copies of certificates, diplomas, and degrees are also available at the Registrar’s office. Students will also have access to unofficial copies of their transcripts online in the CU Campus Management Software, Fedena.www.cityuniversity.fedena.com.

Tuition Refund Policy

City University Libraries.

CU has three libraries with over 30,000 printed books and a digital library with over 32 million digital resources. The library delivers instant access to a wide variety of educational resources, including video, audio, books, and journals. It also has a built-in proxy and search engine and a catalogue with over 50,000 professionally organized items.

The other two campuses have libraries within the main building, and the online library management software we use simplifies book sharing between them.

A special collection of readers has been procured to allow English Language students at different levels to borrow, read, and write book reports. Reading space and Wi-Fi services are available in all libraries.

Labs: City University provides students with a wealth of laboratory resources and access to cutting-edge technologies for experiential learning. Students are guided by experienced staff in the identification, planning, preparation, conduct, and reporting of lab experiments. Student safety is given priority in all exercises, and safety equipment, such as coat labs, goggles, fire extinguishers, eye wash and shower stations, etc., is provided in all labs.

Current Labs:  Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Civil Engineering, Agriculture, Livestock, and Marine Science Labs. CU Students also have access to labs at partner universities worldwide. Click on the links below for more details.

Marine Sciences Laboratory: Our modern Marine Sciences lab houses a purpose-built facility with water, gas, and electricity delivered to every student station, with the instructor retaining complete control of opening or shutting off any experiment for safety. Microscopes, centrifuges, hot air and microwave ovens, sterilizers, refrigerator, incubators, safety cabinets, thermometers, mobile testing sets, and different scales are all available to students in sufficient quantities. We also have two boats for exploration, fishing, and research.

With our experienced staff in Marine Sciences, which includes one PhD holder, five MS holders, and many experienced boat and fish hands, students can combine their theoretical, practical, and lab learning experiences for a rewarding education in Marine Sciences.

Civil Engineering Labs: Our Civil Engineering labs include a modern computer lab equipped with the latest AutoCAD. The AutoCAD drawings on the left are the product of projects completed by our first-year engineering students.

Manual drawing classes precede the use of AutoCAD facilities. Field trips to construction sites, internships with companies inside and outside the country, and field equipment for engineering education are all part of the arsenal prepared for CU students to excel in their studies.

Through experiential learning components and field trips, students are taught the strength of materials testing, steel, concrete, and soil analysis.

Science Laboratories (Biology, Chemistry & Physics Labs): Well-equipped labs for Chemistry, Biology & Physics are prepared for student education. Local secondary schools also visit our labs to expose their students to the scientific equipment available at CU. Among the items in the biology lab are regular microscopes and the LCD microscope pictured here. This microscope can also connect to a projector so the class can share pictures of microbes and their features on the widescreen. Physics lab resources are used to conduct weight, mass, heat, electricity, motion, and more experiments.

Agriculture Greenhouses: Our greenhouse provides an invaluable learning experience and a living laboratory for our agriculture students. It also provides a great variety of vegetables for our staff kitchen. Students not only learn plating, protecting, and harvesting in the greenhouse, but they also learn firsthand the drip-irrigation technology that comes with the modern greenhouse. There is also ample space outside the greenhouse for comparison planting in an unprotected environment.
